Probly not even worth a thread, but oh well. First of all, where does the money come from to pay for this thing? Under the current allocation, 58 percent of lottery revenues is paid out in prizes, 30 percent is transferred to the Education Lottery Fund to be distributed to the education programs that the lottery serves, 7 percent is paid in commissions to retailers for the lottery tickets they sell and 5 percent goes for gaming san anselmo map expenses, advertising and marketing, and other administrative costs. I think Greg may have provided the answer. I haven't noted a heck of a lot of improvements in schools and I damn sure haven't seen any reduction of taxes on the citizens. So there is something missing somewhere. Before the lottery we were all taxed in some way, shape or form to provide for education. Now that the lottery is "paying for all of that" how come taxes never were reduced, in fact they continue to rise???????? san anselmo map

The question isn't so much what is the lottery paying for, the question is why isn't the lottery money ADDED to the education budget? san anselmo map We're still going to be taxed for edu, not a problem. I just thought the lottery was SUPPOSED to add funds to our tax $ to really ramp stuff up? If 52% of lottery proceeds are going to K-9 teachers saleries, shouldn't all of those that I know have gotten raises, since this is "extra" money? why the freeze, if the lotto is just added money? Or did 52% get taken out of teachers saleries and become replaced by lotto $, so everything stayed the same? I said it before it happened. Lotto would help everything BUT education.
